John Cassavetes

Actor and film director who was regarded as a pioneer of American cinema verité.
"I'm sort of my own Mafia, you know, breaking my own knees."
"There's a difference between ad-libbing and improvising. And there's a difference between not knowing what to do and just saying something. Or making choices as an actor. As a writer also, as a person who's making a film, as a cameraman, everything is a choice. And it seems to me I don't really have to direct anyone or write down that somebody's getting drunk; all I have to do is say that there's a bottle there and put a bottle there and then they're going to get drunk. I don't want to tell them how they're going to get drunk. I don't want to tell them how they're going to get drunk, or what they would do, and I don't want to restrict them in being able to carry out a beat, to fulfill an action. You can't say somebody's drunk, or in love."
"Ricardo Montalban is to improvisational acting what Mount Rushmore is to animation."
"As an artist, I feel that we must try many things - but above all we must dare to fail."

LIZA

Trying to find one word to sum up her star-studded 44-year career, Liza Minnelli paused for a moment."Just one word?" she asked, while speaking by phone from her home in New York. But, as if her life flashed across her mind in an instant, a word suddenly came to her: "Interesting," she said.It could also be described as ambitious, captivating and legendary. As the daughter of Judy Garland, Minnelli certainly carries the family talents through her vocal talents and impressive stage presence. What has made Minnelli so intriguing for so long? Besides her vibrant personality, at 19 she was the youngest actress to win a Tony Award for a lead role in "Flora the Red Menace." The star has since won numerous awards, being one of few to sweep several Tony Awards, several Golden Globes, an Emmy and a Grammy and the Ocars in her lifetime. She was born into a family of great entertainers. Her mother was a talented actress and singer, well known for her role in the "The Wizard of Oz," and her father, Vincente Minnelli, was a film director. She said her parents passed down their great sense of life to her. Plus, a curiosity of the world. "I've worked very hard," said Minnelli. "I think I've earned my place." "I feel like I'm at my best," she said. 2007.

JEFF BUCKLEY

There was a time in my life not too long ago when I could show up in a cafe and simply do what I do, make music, learn from performing my music, explore what it means to me, i.e., have fun while I irritate and/or entertain an audience who don't know me or what I am about. In this situation I have that precious and irreplaceable luxury of failure, of risk, of surrender. I worked very hard to get this kind of thing together, this work forum. I loved it and then I missed it when it disappeared. All I am doing is reclaiming it.

Marilyn Kiss

• I'm trying to find myself as a person, sometimes that's not easy to do.
Millions of people live their entire lives without finding themselves. But it is something I must do. The best way for me to find myself as a person is to prove to myself that I am an actress.
• I am trying to prove to myself that I am a person. Then may be I'll convince myself that I'm an actress...Marilyn Monroe

THE TALENTED MR. DAMON

Matt Damon has been known to stray from the mainstream in his choice of roles, such as his portrayal of bisexual murderer Tom Ripley in The Talented Mr. Ripley, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. He has also played a fallen angel who discusses pop culture as intellectual subject matter in Dogma.

Robert Plant & Led Zeppelin

Robert Plant's voice and singing technique were very unusual compared to other rock lead singers of the era such as John Lennon, Mick Jagger and others, and these traits helped to define the unique sound of Led Zeppelin and ultimately the heavy metal vocal style. Plant is a tenor and his powerful, high-pitched, wailing vocals are famously showcased in many Led Zeppelin songs such as "Communication Breakdown", "Dazed and Confused","Over the Hills and Far Away" and "Whole Lotta Love". His singing method is characterised by a slightly higher than average male voice and an aggressive, rough timbre.

AGNES MOORHEAD

Moorehead married actor John Griffith Lee in 1930, and they divorced in 1952; they adopted an orphan named Sean in 1949, but it remains unclear whether the adoption was legal, although Moorehead did raise the child until he ran away from home. In 1953, she married actor Robert Gist, and they divorced in 1958. In the years since her death, rumors about Moorehead's being a lesbian have been widespread (most notoriously in the book Hollywood Lesbians); however, Moorehead biographer Charles Transberg (I Love the Illusion: The Life and Career of Agnes Moorehead, 2005) interviewed several of the actress' closest friends, including some who were openly gay, who all stated the rumor is untrue.

Jim Morrison

Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free.
I am the lizard king. I can do anything...Jim Morrison.
Blake said that the body was the soul's prison unless the five senses are fully developed and open. He considered the senses the 'windows of the soul.' When sex involves all the senses intensely, it can be like a mystical experence. Jim Morrison

Julie Christie

A reluctant star, Christie made a comeback with her appearance as the unhappy wife in Alan Rudolph's domestic comedy-drama Afterglow (1997). Critics were delighted with her performance, for which she received her third Oscar nomination. However, rather than capitalizing on her comeback, Christie continued her nonchalant attitude towards acting. Since her last Oscar nomination, she has appeared mostly in small roles in English and American films.

Gerard Butler (Phanton Of The Opera)

He began taking formal singing lessons before he was even cast for the title role in Joel Schumacher's film rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, training for hours a day from January of 2003 to June of 2004. Joked that he prefers the masked side of his face to the normal side after performing in Phantom of the Opera .
